Robert King, Concert Piano Tuner
OOVER 40 YEARS' PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
About Robert King
Robert King began his professional career in piano tuning at the age of 16, completing an apprenticeship in piano tuning and traditional French polishing. More than four decades later, he has accumulated over 40 years of professional experience tuning, repairing and regulating upright and grand pianos.
Robert is an experienced concert piano tuner. His work has included tuning pianos for concerts at St David’s Hall, Wales Millennium Centre, Tramshed Cardiff and The Riverfront Newport, as well as professional tuning work for BBC Cardiff and tuning pianos aboard cruise ships.
His experience extends beyond tuning. Robert received specialist professional training in piano regulation from the Chief Piano Regulator at Knight Pianos, developing his knowledge of the mechanical workings of the piano action alongside decades of practical experience in piano repairs and regulation.
Robert later established the Piano Tuner Academy, where he has successfully trained more than 70 piano tuners from around the world. Students have travelled internationally to undertake his intensive professional training, including four students from Australia, with graduates going on to establish their own piano tuning businesses and careers.
Having spent more than 40 years working with pianos, from family uprights and teaching instruments to grands and concert pianos, Robert brings a depth of practical, hands-on experience to every instrument.
Today, through the Piano Tuning Company, Robert provides professional piano tuning, repairs, regulation and specialist piano services throughout South Wales.
Over 40 years’ experience. A lifetime spent working with pianos.
